Why We Are Closed for Summer Vacation

Wheels Up Collective was built upon the idea that culture is the most important thing for a growing team to be successful and that the right culture is a prerequisite for high-quality work. In order to serve clients at the top of our game, we need to be able to put our best foot forward, every day.

That is why we are closing our virtual office for a mandatory summer vacation. By taking time off, we are investing in our employees, and ultimately investing in our business.

Three reasons taking time off is good for employees & business

1. Improved productivity

According to Inc, research suggests that people have a limited pool of cognitive resources. This means that if you are constantly draining your resources, you are not operating at maximum productivity levels. As your cognitive resources decline, so does performance; you become less persistent in the face of challenges. That's why, when we start to feel burned out at work, even the simplest of tasks can feel like a challenge.

Oftentimes, as soon as you step away from your computer, whether it is for a 15-minute break or a week off, employees feel recharged and ready to take on their to-do lists.

2. Increased creativity

Many employees get caught up in the daily grind of monotonous work and find themselves going through the motions. Yet, research shows that being exposed to new and different experiences actually boosts creativity, and so does being idle, daydreaming, and relaxing. For example, one study by Science Daily found that hiking in nature - disconnected from devices - for four days led to a 50 percent spike in creativity.

So, if you’re uninspired, it might be time to take a break from work to enjoy nature or try something new.

3. Boosted mental clarity & focus

It's inevitable - when you work too many consecutive hours and days in a row, your thoughts will eventually get cloudy and your performance will diminish. Employees who take time off, and actually refrain from checking emails during that time, return with a renewed sense of energy and purpose, which enhances productivity and drive.

To that end, the week of July 4 - July 8, 2022, we’ll be offline, except to support clients with any urgent issues.

When you run at a startup speed, burnout can creep up on you very quickly if you aren’t prioritizing a healthy work-life balance. We believe that our team’s summer vacation will make us all better marketers and partners for our clients.

From all of us at Wheels Up, thanks for letting us recharge and come back to work ready to serve you well.
